Welcome, Andy Rankin

Up to now, this blog has been about my adventures getting to know the City of Falls Church as a new resident and a business owner inside the city limits.  It’s been tricky keeping up with writing posts, and now I’ll have some help.  Andy Rankin is going through very similar experiences as I am, in part because he’s my business partner at Viget Labs.  He also recently moved his family into the City (he has 2 kids, I have 3).

Don’t let the last name fool you — he also happens to be my brother.  Up until he got married (almost a decade ago now) he was Andy Williams.  We grew up together and share a similar passion for getting involved in our local community.  I’m on the FCC-TV board, and Andy has been interviewing for a spot on the Economic Development Authority board.  We both visit the farmers market regularly and talk about ways to improve the City.  I can promise you that, like any good brothers, we don’t always agree.  So look for us to carry out some disagreements here, which could be interesting.

Don’t expect a rash of posts — we’re both still very busy people.  Together we’ll keep feeling out a voice and mission for this blog.  There’s been great discussion recently on Blueweeds and the newer Falls Church Times blogs.  I expect our blog here will be a bit more about our personal experiences in the City, and might include more questions than answers as we embark on our community involvement adventures, but we’ll see how it evolves.
