Thinking About This Site
I registered FallsChurchInsider.com after a long, sunny walk with my family yesterday through the center of Falls Church. As we walked from Pearson Square to Natalia’s for a cookie and then past the Library, our pediatrician’s office, Cherry Hill Park and on to Lincoln Park for play-time after crossing over the W&OD (twice), then past SmithGifford and into Arlington to Bear Rock Cafe for lunch before marching past The State Theater, stopping in to check out the new Red, White, & Bleu wine shop, then resisting a milkshake at Elevation Burger before passing by the Henderson House and returning home, I realized something: I tend to write in run-on sentences.
I also realized that there’s a lot to explore and learn about in our little city, and I’d like to do just that. With small kids, I’d like to do it in a way that helps them learn about their community as they get older as well — a journal of some kind, perhaps. But why keep it to just them? Why not share it with anyone who cares about Falls Church now or in the future? So here I am …
There’s a lot I don’t know about Falls Church. In fact, I know relatively little right now. But I love the idea of becoming more active in — and knowledgeable about — the community, and at the moment it seems like writing blog posts as I go through that adventure is a good idea. Now, considering how busy I am at work and that I have 3 small kids and a beautiful wife I love to spend time with, time is hard for me to come by. There’s no plan, no charter, no business idea, no agenda … just an idea to start. Where it goes from here is anyone’s guess.
